Beyond the commemoration, most U.S. online retailers are taking advantage of this date to offer deep discounts. Memorial Day deals are already underway, but experts recommend waiting until the week leading up to the holiday and the three-day weekend to find the best prices. Most sales culminate on Monday, May 27, although some retailers extend their deals for more days. However, they are often less attractive. For example, a store might offer 45% off sitewide during Memorial Day weekend, but only 25% off selected items the following week. Therefore, to ensure the best prices and a wider variety of products, it is advisable to shop before the end of the date. What not to buy?

The priority: clothing and footwear. These items tend to be most heavily discounted in August and September, when the new season is approaching.
